High-ranking militia group killed near rocket attack near Baghdad airport
According to the Russian satellite network reported on January 3, the Iraqi Security Forces Information Center released news that a rocket attack near Baghdad airport injured at least 12 Iraqi government soldiers.
It was reported that a rocket landed on a civilian car, which was burned and the driver died.
The report quoted Iraqi security sources as saying several people had died in the rocket attack. According to sources, the rocket landed near a military facility.
Sources said Baghdad International Airport has been closed and flight operations have been suspended.
The report quoted “Al Jazeera” as saying that five members of the Iraqi Shia militia group “People’s Mobilization Organization”, including high-ranking member Mohamed Jabiri, died in the Baghdad rocket attack. Mohamed Jabiri heads the militia’s public relations unit.
