U.S. forces conduct air strikes on “Iran-related targets” near Baghdad
An U.S. official, who asked not to be named, was quoted as saying by the Reuters website on January 3 that it was the US military that carried out an air attack on “two Iran-related targets” near Baghdad on January 3.
The Pentagon has not commented on the matter.
Earlier, according to information released by the Iraqi Security Forces Information Center, a rocket attack near Baghdad airport injured at least 12 Iraqi government soldiers. Another five members of the Iraqi Shia militia group “People’s Mobilization Group”, including high-ranking member Mohamed Jabiri, died in a Baghdad rocket attack. The militia group has been involved in impacting the US embassy in Baghdad.
